JEAN AND MARK, PRIDE OF WHITBY!

Congratulations to Jean Scales and Mark LiddelL who won the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Community Award at The Pride of Whitby Awards.

A hugely well deserved award for all the hard work they both put into the running and organisation of Whitby Now and it's fundraising events. Hurrah and raise your glasses in their honour!

Why thank you Invisible Mice. We didn't think we would win when we were up against RNLI fundraisers but waddya know - we did - and it gave us a nice warm glow inside, but that could have been the wine.

Back in my day, you didn't need RNLI fundraisers. The whole thing was funded by John Noakes and Princess Anne collecting bottle tops off of African orphans. Rock on Jean & Mark.

Why not join up with RNLI and have a Whitby Now sponsored lifeboat?

It wouldn't necessarily save as many people, but if you were drowning and a boat turned up with Yabbadabbadoo doing a live set, at least you'd go under with a jolly tune ringing in your ears.

Well done Jean & Mark. Fantastic work. Nice photo too. Are those cake stands in the background?

No, sadly there were no cakestands at this event... though the perspective on the tables in the background does make them look rather like cake stands...

You should see the other pictures from that night... I've got a corker of an intimate moment between Jimmy Lupton and Jon from the Gazette and a lovely shot of Mark Liddell and some prawns and I am willing to accept cash in return for the negatives!
